Offering a Farm Fresh Appeal at the Ellis Hotel

Released: October 22, 2009

Atlanta, Ga. – The Ellis Hotel, downtown Atlanta’s newest chic boutique hotel, proudly announces the re-concepted restaurant, Terrace. Celebrating American heirloom recipes through supporting local and regional farmers, fisherman and purveyors, Terrace recaptures the pure simple flavors and tastes of natural and organic ingredients while bursting with flavors and unique combinations and textures.

Striving to raise awareness for a more local and sustainable food culture while working to re-establish a vibrant sense of community through good food…Farm to Table, Terrace creates an urban oasis of environmentally friendly dining. Awarded with the Silver level by the Green Seal Environmental Standard for Lodging Properties (the second hotel in the state of Georgia), The Ellis Hotel and Terrace practice consistent sustainability. To reinforce this commitment, The Ellis Hotel has hired Michel Nischan (restaurant owner, award-winning cookbook author and media personality to food policy activist and non-profit foundation CEO) to consult with The Ellis Hotel on the re-concepting of Terrace.

Executive Chef Joël Young is the mastermind behind Terrace, bringing an innovative perspective to cooking and the ingredients used in each distinct creation. Young takes simple ingredients and combines them in an artful precision of Southern cuisine coupled with the robust flavors of a modern culinary experience.

Executive Sous Chef and Food Ambassador, Robert Pecorino, ensures the quality and flavors of fresh food at Terrace are in check. Pecorino embraces the sustainability culture set forth by The Ellis Hotel by personally selecting everything from local farmer’s markets and even bringing guests along for the selection process.

With seasonal menus and daily features, Terrace offers dishes from Enchanted Springs Georgia Mountain Trout to succulent, grass-fed Flat Iron Steak. The Summer Vegetable Melt, a vegetarian option, consists of sautéed locally grown and organic vegetables placed on toasted Parmesan bread and topped with goat cheese. Traditional American favorites are sprinkled throughout the menu, including meatloaf, Ellis Crab Cakes, homemade soups and an all-time Southern favorite, Georgia Organic Collards.

The intimate dining room features floor-to-ceiling windows and the Terrace offers incredible views of Peachtree Street. The alluring space, decorated in décor from the local art district seats up to 58 guests inside and 20 guests outside. A private room, the Stoddard Room is available for special occasions accommodating up to 20 guests.

The new Ellis Lobby Bar is located street level and offers hip and funky interior décor with an al fresco area. Beverage features include The Ellis Hotel’s signature White Sangria and offers an extensive wine list along with small plates of Kettle Macaroni and Cheese and Spicy Amish Chicken Wings all created with pure ingredients purchased locally.

Dinner is served from 5-10 p.m. while an hour-long power lunch is offered between 11:30-2 p.m., which provides a great venue for professional lunch meetings.
