PITTSBURGH — A manager was recently honored for his exceptional management of a local hotel.
The Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association gave Lance Rihn, Doubletree Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry general manager, the General Manager of the Year Award at its 10th annual “Hospitality Stars of Excellence” gala Jan. 22 at the Fairmont Hotel.
The event honors Pittsburgh professionals in the hotel industry. Money raised from the gala will help fund the association’s scholarship, which assists students interested in the hotel industry.
“I am honored to receive the General Manager of the Year award from the GPHA,” Rihn said. “I am so grateful to work with such an amazing group at the Doubletree and with Prospera. Our overall success is possible due to the entire team’s effort to live up to the Doubletree brand promise — to serve our guests in an atmosphere where the little things mean everything.”
Rihn joined Prospera Hospitality as the Doubletree general manager three years ago and has since shown exceptional operations knowledge and expertise in leading his team to rank ninth out of 375 Doubletree hotels in America, according to a company release.
“It is great to see Lance recognized for his hard work and determination,” said Bob Andrews, chief operating officer for Prospera Hospitality. “The hotel received a complete renovation in 2016 and Lance was instrumental in overseeing the project — and once complete, the advancement and growth of the hotel.”
